ANIME IS MORE THAN A CARTOON! [10.3.08]

Ever get mad or filled with rage the second someone calls anime simply an adult cartoon?

We have many times.

So the first story of Smells Like Cherries’ premiere is the difference between them. Starting with the fact that they are not merely for adults; there are many age appropriate ones, for fans under the age of four teen and ten. For example Prince of Tennis is for all ages, If it were rated by ESRB, the company that rates the games, it would give it an E for everyone. Even this age restricted-less anime is not considered a cartoon.

Another thing most people use to associate Anime with cartoons is the fact that they are drawn and animated. The well known following are drawn and animated but aren’t anime: The Simpsons; Family Guy; American Dad, and every show done in the same manner.

Anime is defined by its origin; Japan. Anime is short for animation, but in their Japanese form of saying animation.

It isn’t just a genre of a television show, it’s actually a little culture too; just as a group of Buddhists would walk around showing there ways to others. Anime is the same it shows us what Japan can do.

Cartoon = America

Anime = Japan.

Don’t mix them up.
